The climate of Tabriz is
arid continental (according to the Köppen classification, cold semi-arid or steppe climate - BSk), with cold winters and hot, sunny summers.

Tabriz is a city of 1,600,000 inhabitants located in the north-west of Iran, in the province of East Azerbaijan, at 38 degrees north latitude and at 1,400 meters (4,600 feet) above sea level.
Nearby is Mount Sahand, 3,707 meters (12,162 ft) high. At about 2,900 meters (9,500 ft) above sea level there is also a ski resort. Skiing is usually possible from January to mid-March.
