Climate in Jask (Iran)

The climate of Jask is tropical desert (according to the Köppen classification, hot desert climate - BWh), with pleasantly warm winters and very hot, muggy summers. Precipitation, decidedly scarce, occurs mostly between December and March.
Jask is a small city of 17,000 inhabitants located in the south-east of Iran, in the province of Hormozgan, on the coast of the Gulf of Oman, at almost 26 degrees north latitude.

Winter, from December to February, is pleasantly warm, so much so that the average in January exceeds 20 °C (68 °F). Rainfall is rare even in this season, although there can be a period of bad weather every now and then.

Sometimes, in the rare cases when the wind blows from the interior, the temperature can reach or exceed 40 °C (104 °F). In June 2017 it reached 43.6 °C (110.5 °F).
Although summer is a dry season, this southeastern part of Iran is marginally affected by the monsoon circulation, so some cloudiness can form, to the point that July and August are the least sunny months of the year, and the temperature also drops a bit compared to June.

In addition, the coast of the Gulf of Oman can occasionally be marginally affected by tropical cyclones (which usually pass further south, over the Arabian Peninsula), as happened with Cyclone Gonu in early June 2007 and Cyclone Phet in early June 2010, both of which brought heavy rains.
Cyclones form from May to November, and are more frequent at the beginning of the period (May-June), and a little less at the end (October-November).
