Climate in Wamena (Indonesia)

The climate of Wamena is tropical, although tempered by the altitude, and with no dry season.
Wamena is a city of 65,000 inhabitants, located in the eastern part of Indonesia, in Western New Guinea, in the province of Papua Pegunungan (or Highland Papua), of which it is the capital, at 1,650 meters (5,415 feet) above sea level and at 4 degrees south latitude.
About 190 km (118 mi) to the west is Puncak Jaya, Indonesia's highest peak, with 4,884 metres (16,024 ft).



The temperatures are stable throughout the year, however, they decrease slightly in the southern hemisphere winter, from June to August, while they increase a little in spring.
Although there is no dry season, rainfall is more frequent and abundant from December to April.
