Climate chart - Tual (Indonesia)
Climate chart - Tual (Indonesia)

The climate of Tual (Kota Tual) is tropical, with a rainy season from December to May (due to the northwest monsoon) and a relatively dry season from July to October (due to the southeast monsoon), with June and November as transitional months.
The city is located in the east of Indonesia, at almost 6 degrees south latitude, in the Kai Islands, a group of small islands belonging to the Moluccas (Maluku). In particular, we are in the southeastern part of the Moluccas, between New Guinea to the north and Australia to the south. To the east are the Aru Islands, while to the southwest are the Tanimbar Islands.
Temperatures are slightly lower in the Southern Hemisphere winter (June to August), and slightly higher before the rainy season (in October and November).
In the warm period of the southern hemisphere (between November and May, but with a greater probability between December and mid-April), the Kai Islands can be affected by tropical cyclones, even though we are close to the Equator, so this happens very rarely, and it is easier for a cyclone to pass further south, in the Timor Sea and the Arafura Sea. However, at the end of April 2009, Cyclone Kirrily, of category 1 (the lowest) directly affected the area.
