Climate chart - Sabang
The climate of Sabang can be defined as equatorial, since it is hot all year round and without a dry season, although there is a rainier period from October to January, due to the northeast monsoon and to the tropical depressions that form in this period.
Sabang is the northwesternmost city of Indonesia, and is located on the small island of Weh, north of Sumatra, in the province of Aceh, at almost 6 degrees north latitude.
Temperatures are slightly lower in the Northern Hemisphere winter (November to February), and slightly higher from April to August.
Being close to the equator, Sabang is generally not directly affected by tropical cyclones. However, from April to December, a cyclone can occasionally form on the sea north of Sumatra, which then heads towards the Andaman Sea.
