Climate chart - Banjarmasin
Banjarmasin's climate is equatorial, hot, humid and rainy all year round, although the rains are more frequent and abundant from December to March and less from June to October, when the south-east monsoon blows, which is dry on the Sunda islands, but here it brings rainfall because it is charged with humidity as it passes over the Java Sea.
The city is located in Indonesia, in the province of South Kalimantan, at the confluence of the Barito and Martapura rivers, at 3 degrees south latitude and 20 km (12 mi) away from the southern coast of Borneo.
Compared to the rest of Borneo, where the temperatures are very stable, here they vary a little more, in particular, they decrease slightly during the southeast monsoon period, especially at night, and increase at the end of the period, in September and October, when they reach the highest levels of the year.
Being close to the equator, Banjarmasin is not affected by tropical cyclones.
