Climate chart - Ambon
The climate of Ambon is equatorial, hot, humid and rainy all year round, although the rains are relatively rarer from October to April and very frequent and abundant from May to September, when the southeast monsoon blows, which on the Sunda islands is dry, but here it brings rainfall because it picks up the humidity as it passes over the Banda Sea. Hence, the wettest period is the opposite of much of Indonesia.
The city is located at 3 degrees south latitude, on the island of the same name, and is the capital of the Moluccas (or Maluku), central islands of Indonesia.
Being close to the equator, Ambon is not affected by tropical cyclones.
