Climate chart - Udaipur
The climate of Udaipur is subtropical semi-arid, with a rainy season that runs approximately from mid-June late September, due to the monsoon, and a dry season from October to mid-June.
The city is located in India, at 24 degrees north latitude and 600 meters (2,000 feet) above sea level. We are in Rajasthan, the arid state of north-western India, albeit in the relatively rainier part, the one east of the Aravalli mountains. Furthermore, the altitude slightly moderates the heat, so the exceptional values of the area to the west, where the Thar desert is located (see Jodhpur, Bikaner, Jaisalmer), are not reached.
Around the city there are seven lakes, as well as hills, which belong to the aforementioned Aravalli mountains, which are located a short distance away, to the west.

Udaipur

From March to mid-June, before the monsoon, it is very hot. In May and June, in the hottest periods, the temperature generally reaches 42/43 °C (108/109 °F). The record is 46 °C (115 °F). After the monsoon, from the beginning of October to mid-November, the temperature increases again and it can get very hot again, although less than in the previous period: the temperature can reach 35/36 °C (95/97 °F), especially in October.
Instead, in winter, from December to February, nights are very cool, if not cold. On the coldest nights of the year, the temperature generally drops to 3/4 °C (37/39 °F). The record is -1 °C (30 °F). Even in these cases, however, the daytime temperature reaches or exceeds 20 °C (68 °F).

Occasionally, Udaipur can be affected by tropical cyclones. Typically, cyclones in India occur from April to December, with a greater probability before and after the monsoon (late April to early June and October-November). Udaipur, being quite far north and at a certain distance from the sea, is rarely affected, however, every now and then it can be affected, as happened in mid-June 2019 with Cyclone Vayu, in mid-May 2021 with Cyclone Tauktae, and in mid-June 2023 with cyclone Biparjoy.

Best Time

The best time to visit Udaipur is from mid-November to late February, being the coolest within the dry season. Sometimes, it can get cold at night, most likely from mid-December to mid-February.
