Climate chart - Surat
The climate of Surat is tropical, with a rainy season from mid-June to September, due to the monsoon, and a dry season from October to mid-June. On average, the monsoon runs from 19 June to 2 October. During some years, the rains are particularly abundant and can lead to floods, usually in July and August.
The city is located in western India, in the state of Gujarat, at 21 degrees north latitude, and on the banks of the Tapti River, which to the southwest widens into a delta on the Arabian Sea.
From March to mid-June, before the monsoon, it is very hot. In the hottest periods, the temperature can exceed 40 °C (104 °F). At the end of April 2002 and in May 2004, it reached 44 °C (111 °F). However, it can sometimes get very hot even in winter.
On the other hand, nights are cool from November to February, and can sometimes be even a bit cold when air masses come from the north. In February 2001, the temperature dropped to 7.6 °C (45.7 °F).

Surat

Surat is in the path of tropical cyclones. Typically, cyclones occur from April to December, with two intensity peaks before and after the monsoon (from late April to early June and in October-November). Gujarat is rarely directly affected by cyclones, however, it was directly affected by cyclone ARB 02 in early June 1998, by tropical depression ARB 02 in late June 2015, by Cyclone Vayu in mid-June 2019, and by cyclone Tauktae in mid-May 2021.
