The climate of Hisar is
semi-arid subtropical, with a
rainy season that runs roughly from July to mid-September, due to the monsoon, and a
dry season from mid-September to the end of June.
The city is located in northern India, in the state of
Haryana, at 29 degrees north latitude and 215 meters (705 feet) above sea level. The Indian capital, New Delhi, is located about 130 km (80 mi) to the southeast. Compared to the latter, Hisar is a bit colder in the winter and a bit drier in the rainy season, as it is located closer to Rajasthan, the arid state of northwest India.
We are on the edge of the Indo-Gangetic plain, which is a
very polluted area, especially from October to February, when air stagnates more easily.
In
winter, from mid-November to late February or early March, nights are cool, and sometimes even cold. In January 2013, the temperature dropped to -1 °C (30 °F).
In addition, from November to February,
fog can form at night and in the early morning. The fog usually dissolves during the day, however, in these situations, it can sometimes be very cool even during the day, with highs of 12/13 °C (54/55 °F), and sometimes even below. In December 2019, there was a day with a maximum of 10 °C (50 °F).
From April to early July, before the monsoon,
it is very hot. In the hottest periods, the temperature can reach or exceed 46/47 °C (115/117 °F). The temperature reached 48.8 °C (119.8 °F) in May 1998, 48.1 °C (118.6 °F) in May 2010 and in June 1993, and 48 °C (118.5 °F) in May 2020.
Best Time
The
best time to visit Hisar is from mid-November to mid-February, being the coolest within the dry season. It must be said that this is the time of the year when pollution is highest. Also, in the middle of winter, usually from mid-December to mid-January, it can get a little cold and fog can be persistent, so the latter period can be avoided.
