Climate chart - Bhuj
The climate of Bhuj is arid subtropical, with a rainy season from July to September, due to the Indian monsoon.
The city is located in western India, in the state of Gujarat, just south of the Tropic of Cancer, about 50 km (30 mi) away from the coast of the Arabian Sea. We are in the Kutch district, the north-western part of the state, which borders Pakistan (in the part where the Thar desert is located) and is the driest, where rainfall is lower than 400 millimeters (15.5 inches) per year. To the north of the city is the Rann of Kutch, a brackish marsh that was once a lake and now floods during the short rainy season from July to September.
From March to mid-June, before the monsoon, it is very hot. In the hottest periods, the temperature can reach or exceed 45 °C (113 °F). In June 1991, it reached 47 °C (116.5 °F).
On the other hand, nights are cool from November to February, and can sometimes be even a bit cold when air masses come from the north. The temperature dropped to 0 °C (32 °F) in January 1977 and February 1984, to 0.5 °C (33 °F) in December 1990, and to 1 °C (34 °F) in December 1994. Even in these cases, however, during the day the temperature reaches or exceeds 20 °C (68 °F).
In this area of India, the monsoon has a very variable duration and intensity from one year to another. During some years, it rains little even in July and August, and less than 100 mm (4 in) of rain fall per year, while during other years, it also rains a lot in June and September, and more than 1,000 mm (40 in) of rain fall per year.

Bhuj

Bhuj is in the path of tropical cyclones. Typically, cyclones occur from April to December, with two intensity peaks before and after the monsoon (from late April to early June and in October-November). Gujarat is rarely directly affected by cyclones, however, it was directly affected by cyclone ARB 02 in early June 1998, by tropical depression ARB 02 in late June 2015, by Cyclone Vayu in mid-June 2019, and by cyclone Tauktae in mid-May 2021.

Best Time

The best months to visit Bhuj are December and January, as they are the least hot within the dry season. In February, sometimes it can already get very hot, especially in the second half of the month.
