Climate chart - Bhubaneswar
The climate of Bhubaneswar is tropical, with a rainy season from June to October, due to the monsoon, and a dry season from November to May. The rains usually end in early or mid-October.
The city is the capital of the state of Odisha (formerly Orissa) and is located in the east of India, at 20 degrees north latitude and about 50 km (30 mi) away from the Bay of Bengal. To the north, near the city of Cuttack, the Mahanadi River Delta begins, and a branch passes near Bhubaneswar.
From March to early June, before the monsoon, it is very hot, and showers occasionally occur, especially in May. In the hottest periods, the temperature can reach 45 °C (113 °F). In early June 2012, it reached 46.7 °C (116 °F).
On the other hand, nights are cool from November to February, and can sometimes be even a bit cold when air masses come from the north. At the end of December 2018, the temperature dropped to 8.2 °C (46.8 °F).

Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar is in the path of tropical cyclones. Typically, cyclones occur from April to December, with two intensity peaks before and after the monsoon (from late April to early June and in October-November). At the end of October 1999, the city was hit hard, together with the neighboring towns of Cuttack and Khorda, by the so-called Odisha cyclone.

Best Time

The best months to visit Bhubaneswar are December and January, as they are the least hot within the dry season. In February it can sometimes get very hot already.
November is usually a good month, sunny and not too hot, but in some years a cyclone can still pass. More rarely, this can still happen until around December 20.
