Climate chart - Belgaum
The climate of Belgaum (formerly Belagavi) is tropical, tempered by altitude, with a rainy season from June to October, due to the monsoon, and a dry season from November to March. In April and May, before the arrival of the monsoon, it is very hot, and showers can occur, although they are not frequent. At night, it can be cool from November to March, while in the rainy period, the daytime temperatures can be relatively low, around 25 °C (77 °F), especially in July and August.
The city is located in the south-west of India, in the state of Karnataka, at almost 16 degrees north latitude, and 770 meters above sea level. We are on the eastern side of the Western Ghats, which partially block the rains, in fact on the coast, where the small state of Goa is located, about 3,000 mm (120 inches) of rain fall per year.

Belgaum

Belgaum is in the path of tropical cyclones. Typically, cyclones occur from April to December, with two intensity peaks before and after the monsoon (from late April to early June and in October-November). In particular, in mid-May, there can sometimes be rains due to the passage of a cyclone over the Arabian Sea. From July to September, when the monsoon is in full swing in north-central India, they typically do not form in this southern area.
However, Belgaum is quite sheltered from cyclones, as it is far from the east coast, while protected by the mountains from cyclones that pass near the west coast.

Best Time

The best months to visit Belgaum are December and January, as they are the least hot within the dry season. November is generally a good month, in fact the temperatures are among the lowest of the year, moreover it is a dry month, although in theory a cyclone can still pass. In February and March, it is still the dry season but it is hotter (albeit less than at sea level). In April, it usually doesn't rain much, but it is the hottest month of the year.
