Climate chart - Paamiut
In Paamiut, there is a polar tundra climate, although with maritime influences, with very cold winters, during which the temperature is a few degrees below freezing, and quite cold summers.
Paamiut (Danish: Frederikshåb) is a town of 1,300 inhabitants, located in southwestern Greenland, in the municipality of Sermersooq, on the coast, and at 62 degrees north latitude.

Precipitation is moderate, since it amounts to 880 millimeters (34.5 inches) per year, with a maximum in summer. In winter it almost always occurs in the form of snow, in spring and autumn there are alternating rainfall and snowfall, while in summer, at least in July and August, rainfall prevails.

The winter is long, in fact the average temperature is below freezing from November to April. The average temperature in February, the coldest month, is -7.5 °C (18.5 °F).
Due to its location on the coast, the temperature is not as low as in other areas with a polar climate, however, the wind, which can blow strongly, with gusts of over 100 kph (62 mph), can increase the feeling of cold.
The ground is normally covered in snow. Snowfall is frequent, and can sometimes be heavy.
During cold waves, the temperature drops every year to at least -15 °C (5 °F), and once every few years below -20 °C (-4 °F). In recent decades, the coldest record is -30.9 °C (-23.6 °F), set in March 1993. In January 1983, the daily average was -15.1 °C (4.8 °F).

Summer, from June to August, is quite cold. The average for July and August is 6.5 °C (43.5 °F).
Rains are quite frequent. Snowfall is rare, and is more likely in the first half of June.
Fog often forms in this season.
Sometimes there can be brief very mild periods, from one to three days, during which the temperature can reach or exceed 20 °C (68 °F). The highest record is 23.6 °C (74.5 °F), set in June 2016.

In Paamiut the sea is always very cold, with a temperature just above 0 °C (32 °F). Remember that the sea, being salty, freezes at about -2 °C (28.5 °F). Icebergs can arrive from the glaciers of the mainland.

As for the length of the days, since we are south of the Arctic Circle, the sun rises even on the shortest days of the year, and sets on the longest ones.
However, due to the time zone adopted, on the days of the summer solstice, around June 21, the sun sets shortly after midnight. The white nights, when it doesn't get completely dark all night, occur from May 4th to August 8th.
