In Chemnitz, the climate is slightly continental, with cold winters and very mild to pleasantly warm summers.

Chemnitz, called Karl-Marx-Stadt from 1953 to 1990, is a city of 250,000 inhabitants, located in eastern Germany, in the state of Saxony and at 300 meters (985 feet) above sea level. To the south, on the border with Czechia, lie the Ore Mountains.
