The climate of Port Said can be defined as Mediterranean, even though the winter is particularly mild and the rains are scarce.
The city is located on the north coast of Egypt, in the Nile delta area. The Suez Canal flows into the Mediterranean at Port Said.
Winter is so mild that it never snows and the temperature never drops below freezing.
Summer is long, hot and sunny. The prevailing wind comes from the north, and tempers the heat even though it carries the humidity of the sea. Occasionally, however, the wind from the desert can bring significant increases in temperature.
