Climate chart - Hurghada
In Hurghada, an Egyptian resort on the Red Sea coast, the climate is subtropical desert, with mild winters and very hot summers.
Precipitation, very low, amounts to a few millimeters per year: in practice, it never rains.

In winter, the temperatures are very mild, and the sky is usually clear. The rains are very rare also in this season. Every now and then, a bit of cold air can arrive in the area, lowering the night temperatures around 5 °C (41 °F), from December to February and more rarely in March.

Spring is pleasantly warm at the beginning, ie in March, it becomes hot in April, when it's similar to the Mediterranean summer, while the heat becomes definitely intense by May.

Summer, from mid-May to September, is very hot, with a relentless sun and very high temperatures. It is true that this season is windy enough, and the air is usually dry, especially on hotter days, but the heat is felt, and sometimes, the temperature exceeds 40 °C (104 °F), with peaks of 45 °C (113 °F).

Autumn, in October and November, is warm and sunny; sometimes, the heat is still intense in early October, then the temperature gradually decreases.

In Hurghada, clear skies are the norm, so the sun shines all year round. However, at times, the sun can be obscured by sandstorms, while cloud banks can sometimes pass over the area between November and February.

Every now and then, the chamsin can blow, a hot and dry wind that raises dust storms, and blows especially between March and May.

Hurghada

The sea is very warm from June to October, so it allows to take long swims. The sea becomes a bit cool in winter, but all in all, it's not impossible for swimming.

Best Time

The best times to go to Hurghada, for swimming, diving and sunbathing, are the month of April and from mid-October to mid-November. Summer is really hot, and if the sea is pleasantly warm and you can enjoy long dives (especially in August and September), it can be difficult to do outdoor activities during the day and even to sunbathe.
In winter, a stay here can be enjoyable, and the temperature is often sufficient for sunbathing, although the days are quite short, it can sometimes be a bit cold, and as we said, the sea is a bit cool.
