Climate chart - El Arish
The climate of El Arish can be defined as Mediterranean, even though the winter is particularly mild and the rains are scarce.
The city is located in northeastern Egypt, on the northern Sinai coast, a short distance from the border with Israel and the Gaza Strip.
The airport is located 8 km (5 mi) away from the coast, which is enough distance to make the temperatures a little hotter in summer than in the city, which is right on the coast.
Winter is so mild that it never snows and the temperature never drops below freezing, although hail-like solid precipitation have sometimes occurred, which was mistaken for snow.
Summer is long, hot and sunny. The prevailing wind comes from the north, and tempers the heat even though it carries the humidity of the sea. Occasionally, however, the wind from the desert can bring significant increases in temperature.
