Climate chart - Villavicencio
The climate of Villavicencio is equatorial, that is, hot, humid and rainy all year round. However, even though there is no real dry season, there is a less rainy period from December to March (but especially in January and February).
The city is the capital of the Meta department and is located in central-western Colombia, along the Guatiquía River, at 4 degrees north latitude, south-east of Bogotá and of the Andes, and at an altitude of 440 meters (1,445 feet).
Temperatures are stable, although they are slightly higher in the least rainy period, from December to March.
From April to November, the rains are particularly abundant, at monsoon level. Indeed, if we exclude some cities of the Chocó department, which is located in the west, on the Pacific coast, Villavicencio is one of the wettest cities in Colombia. The reason lies in the location at the foot of the eastern slope of the Andes, which force the trade winds to rise and condense into clouds and rain.
