Climate chart - Ganzhou
The climate of Ganzhou (or Kanchow) is humid subtropical, with mild winters and hot, muggy and rainy summers.
The city is located in southern China, in Jiangxi province, at almost 26 degrees north latitude and on the banks of the Gan River.
The rains are frequent and abundant in spring, from March to May, while in summer, from June to September, they remain abundant but become rarer, as they often occur in the form of a thunderstorm. Not surprisingly, while the sun is hard to see in spring, summer is the sunniest season.
The summer is also particularly hot. In August 2022, the temperature reached 40.6 °C (105.1 °F), and the average maximum was 37.5 °C (99.5 °F).
Autumn and the first part of winter, from October to December, is the relatively driest time of the year.
Even though the winter is mild, there can sometimes be cold periods, during which the maximum temperature remains around 5 °C (41 °F). Every now and then, as happened for example in December 2018, it can even snow.
The city can be hit by typhoons, the tropical cyclones of Southeast Asia, even though it is located quite far from the coast, which is the area most at risk. Typhoons typically occur in this area from June to October or early November.

Ganzhou

Best Time

To visit Ganzhou you can choose autumn, and in particular from mid-October to the end of November, since spring, although mild, is very rainy. It must be said that a typhoon can still arrive until early November, even though, as we have said, the city is located far from the coast.
