The climate of N'Djamena is tropical semi-arid, with a rainy season from June to September. The hottest time of the year is from March to May, before the rains.
The city is the capital of Chad and is located in the south-west of the country, at an altitude of 300 meters (985 feet), and at the confluence of the Logone and Chari rivers. Beyond the border with Cameroon lies the twin city of Kousséri. Lake Chad is located about 95 km (60 mi) to the northwest.
