Climate chart - Churchill
The climate of Churchill is cold continental, with long, freezing winters and mild summers.
Churchill is a village of 900 inhabitants, located in central Canada, in the province of Manitoba, on the coast of Hudson Bay, and at almost 59 degrees north latitude.
The climate is very cold for the latitude, in fact, even though the latitude is similar to that of cities such as Oslo and Stockholm, the town is famous for the sighting of polar bears, typically in autumn.

Precipitation is not abundant, since it amounts to 445 millimeters (17.5 inches) per year. The wettest season is summer, while in winter there is frequent but light snowfall.
On average, 2 meters (79 inches) of snow fall per year. It usually snows from mid or late September to May.
On the coldest days of the year, the temperature drops to -35 °C (-31 °F) or below every year. The coldest record is -45.6 °C (-50 °F), set in January 1942. More recently, the temperature dropped to -45.4 °C (-49.7 °F) in January 1979.
In summer, fog forms quite often.
Sometimes, there can be short hot periods, during which the temperature can reach about 30 °C (86 °F), and more rarely exceed this value. The highest record is 36.9 °C (98.4 °F), set in August 1991.

Near Churchill, the sea is completely frozen from December to April, while in May, June and November it can be more or less frozen depending on the year. Remember that the sea, being salty, freezes at about -2 °C (28.5 °F).

As for the length of the days, since we are south of the Arctic Circle, the sun also rises on the shortest days of the year, and sets on the longest.
However, the white nights, in which it is not completely dark all night, occur from May 17 to July 26.
