The climate of Poços de Caldas is subtropical, with a cool, dry season from May to August and a warm, rainy season from October to March, while April and September are transitional months.
The city is located in southern Brazil, in the state of Minas Gerais, at 21 degrees south latitude and at 1,200/1,300 meters (3,900/4,200 feet) above sea level. It is therefore the Brazilian city of a certain size located at the highest altitude.
Around it, there are mountains arranged in a semicircle that resemble the caldera of an extinct volcano.
