The climate of Manaus is tropical, with a rainy season from November to May and a relatively dry season from July to October.
The city is the capital of the state of Amazonas and is located in the north of Brazil, at 3 degrees north latitude, within the Amazon rainforest, and where the Negro River flows into the Amazon River.
Generally, the highest temperatures are recorded in the dry period. In September 2015, the temperature reached 39 °C (102 °F), and the average high was 36.3 °C (97.3 °F).
