Londrina's climate is subtropical, with a cool, relatively dry season from June to August and a hot, rainy season from October to March.
The city is located in southern Brazil, just north of the Tropic of Capricorn, in the state of Paraná, and at 610 meters (2,000 feet) above sea level.
From June to August, the dry period, is the winter of the southern hemisphere. During this period, there can sometimes be outbursts of cold air from the south, and the night temperature can drop to about 5 °C (41 °F) or even below. In July 1975, the temperature dropped to -3 °C (26 °F).
Starting from mid-August, in spring, the temperature rises and there can be very hot periods. The rains gradually become more frequent.
