The climate of Campos dos Goytacazes is tropical, with a relatively cool and dry season from June to August, and a hot and rainy season from November to March.
The city is located in southeastern Brazil, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, at 21 degrees south latitude. The Atlantic Ocean coast, where São João da Barra is located, is 30 kilometers (18 miles) away.
