The climate of Barbacena is subtropical, with a cool, dry season from June to August and a hot, rainy season from November to March.
The city is located in southern Brazil, in the state of Minas Gerais, at 21 degrees south latitude and 1,100 meters (3,600 feet) above sea level.
From June to August, the dry period, is the winter of the southern hemisphere, and in fact the temperature decreases, especially at night.
