The climate of Sowa is sub-tropical semi-arid, tempered by altitude, with a hot, rainy season from November to March and a long dry season from April to October, within which there is a cool period from May to August. In the latter, at night the temperature can drop a few degrees below freezing. During the day, it can get very hot from September to April.
The town is located in northeastern Botswana, near the salt lake called Sua Pan, and at 930 meters (3,050 feet) above sea level.
