The climate of Francistown is sub-tropical semi-arid, tempered by altitude, with a hot, rainy season from November to March and a long dry season from April to October, within which there is a cool period from May to August. In the latter, at night the temperature can drop a few degrees below freezing. During the day, it can get very hot all year round, but especially from October to February.
The city is located in eastern Botswana, near the border with Zimbabwe, and at 1,000 meters (3,300 feet) above sea level.
