Cobija's climate is tropical, with a rainy season from October to April and a dry, relatively cool season from June to August. From mid-August to October, before the rains, it is the hottest time of the year.
The city is located in the extreme north of Bolivia, in the department of Pando, and at 200 meters (650 feet) above sea level. Beyond the Acre River lies the city of Brasiléia, in Brazil.
The average temperatures are high all year round, but in the austral winter, from June to August, they decrease a bit, especially at night. Also, especially from April to September, cool air from the Argentine pampas can sometimes arrive here, bringing suddenly cool temperatures, sometimes even a little chilly at night.
