Climate chart - Gold Coast
The climate of Gold Coast is humid subtropical, with very mild, relatively dry winters (from June to August) and hot, rainy summers (from November to March). Being in the southern hemisphere, the seasons are reversed compared to the northern hemisphere.
The city is located on the east coast of Australia, in the southeasternmost part of the state of Queensland.
About 50 km (30 mi) to the northwest is the city of Brisbane.
To the southwest is the Lamington National Park, an area of hills and low mountains that reach up to 1,200 meters (3,900 ft), with forests, rivers and waterfalls.

Gold Coast

The climate of Gold Coast is similar to that of Brisbane, therefore it is milder and sunnier in winter than in the southern cities of Australia (Perth, Melbourne, Sydney). However, in the winter nights, from June to August, it can get a bit cold, and the temperature can drop to 5 °C (41 °F) or a little lower.
The summer is hot and muggy, with the breeze from the ocean and the possible development of thunderstorms. The sun also shines in this season, however, there can be periods with more frequent and abundant rains than usual, especially in the Niña years.
Since the wind usually blows from the ocean, heatwaves from the desert are rare, however, occasionally it can get very hot, and from December to February the records are around 38/40 °C (100/104 °F).
Southern Queensland can be affected by tropical cyclones, although more rarely and with less significant effects than the northern part. Cyclones typically form from mid-November to mid-May, but are more likely from January to late March. A particularly intense and damaging cyclone hit the Gold Coast in February 1954.

Best Time

Given that it has a good climate, you can visit Gold Coast all year round. However, you can choose winter and early spring, ie from June to September, since it is the mildest and driest time of the year. October is a bit more rainy, but it is pleasantly warm, without excesses.
Summer is hot and muggy, but the heat is generally bearable, and it's a good period for swimming and sunbathing; sometimes, however, there can be severe thunderstorms, and even a cyclone can approach the city.
For swimming and surfing, the ocean temperature is higher from December to April, while from June to October, the sea is a bit cool.
