Average weather, temperature, rainfall, sunshine hours

In Sevan there is a
continental climate (according to the Köppen classification, humid continental climate, Dfb), with very cold winters and mild summers. Precipitation is not abundant, and has a minimum in winter, when it generally occurs in the form of snow, and a maximum between April and June, when it often occurs in the form of thunderstorms.
The city is located in Armenia, at 40 degrees north latitude, on the northern shore of the lake of the same name, at 1,900 meters (6,200 ft) above sea level.
Lake Sevan, protected in a national park, has a surface area of 1,242 square kilometres (480 sq mi). During the coldest winters it can freeze, as happened in 2008, when the temperature dropped to -24.5 °C (-12 °F) in February, and in 2017.
In summer, the lake is a tourist attraction for the local population, who swim there and practice water sports. On the hottest days, the temperature can reach 30 °C (86 °F).
Temperatures are measured at the Sevanavank Monastery, on a small peninsula in the lake, so they are milder than in the city of Sevan, especially in winter.
When to go
The best time to visit Sevan is from June to September, as it is the mildest of the year. In June, thunderstorms are a little more likely than in subsequent months. July and August are the warmest months.
