Climate chart - Ushuaia
Ushuaia's climate is cold oceanic, with cold winters (from June to August) and very cool summers (from December to February).
The city is located in the far south of Argentina, at 54 degrees south latitude, in Patagonia, on the coast of the Isla Grande (Big Island) of Tierra del Fuego (half of which belongs to Chile), in an inland bay, the Beagle Channel, which resembles a fjord.
The climate is windy and unstable. The rains are frequent all year round, although they are not abundant.
Snowfalls generally occur from April to November, however, if we exclude some very cold periods from June to August, the temperature generally exceeds freezing during the day, so the snow, even if it had accumulated, melts quite soon.
However, at night it can get cold even in summer.
The nearby mountains are covered with snow from 500/600 meters (1,650/2,000 feet).

Ushuaia

Best Time

The best time to visit Ushuaia is summer, from December to February, as it is the mildest of the year. Also, it is easier to hike to nearby glaciers such as the Glaciar Martial because there is little snow.
Instead, at Cerro Castor, the southernmost ski center in the world, you can ski in winter and early spring, and in particular from late June to late September.
