Climate chart - Comodoro Rivadavia (Argentina)
The climate of Comodoro Rivadavia is temperate arid, with quite cold, relatively rainy winters (from June to August) and warm summers (from December to February).
The city is located in Argentine Patagonia, in the province of Chubut, on the coast of the Gulf of San Jorge, at 45 degrees south latitude (therefore, halfway between the pole and the equator, like Milan, Italy, or Montréal, Canada).
We are in an arid area because the humid western currents from the Pacific are blocked by the Andes.
The wind from the west, however, blows all year round, moderate or strong, even though it is dry.
The city is also exposed to cold winds of Antarctic origin, which can bring a bit of cold at night even in summer.
Since winter is quite dry, snowfalls are rare and not abundant. Furthermore, since the city is located on the coast, cold air does not settle easily on the ground, and the temperature almost always exceeds freezing during the day even during cold spells. The coldest record is -8.5 °C (16.7 °F) and was set in June 1964.
Although the summer is not hot, there can sometimes be heat waves. However, since the sea is cold even in summer, the temperature usually drops a lot in the evening due to the breeze. The highest record is 40 °C (104 °F), set in July 2012 and in February 2018.

The best time to visit Comodoro Rivadavia is from October to April, as it is the mildest of the year. From December to March it can sometimes be very hot, even if for short periods, so you can choose the months of April, October and November.
