Climate chart - Córdoba
The climate of Córdoba, Argentina's second largest city, is subtropical, with dry, mild winters (but during which it can get cold at night), and hot, rainy summers. In summer, the rains often occur in the form of thunderstorms.
The city is located in the north-central of Argentina, at an altitude of 400 meters (1,300 feet). To the west lies a mountain range called Sierras Chicas, whose highest peak is Uritorco, 1,979 meters (6,394 feet) high.
We are in the northernmost part of the Pampa.
Snow in Córdoba is very rare, however, snowfalls occurred in July 2007 and June 2021.
During the day it can get hot all year round. In winter, the temperature can reach or exceed 30 °C (86 °F) when the north-westerly wind blows from the mountains. On the other hand, from September to February, there can be heat waves, in which the temperature reaches or exceeds 38/40 °C (100/104 °F).
But the Pampero, the south wind, is able to interrupt the hot and muggy periods, bringing pleasant temperatures (and sometimes even very cool) for two or three days.
