The climate of Djelfa can be defined as continentalized Mediterranean, since the temperatures are similar to those of the Mediterranean climate, but the winter is quite cold, while the summer is very hot. Rainfall is not abundant.
The city is located in north-central Algeria, at 1,100 meters (3,600 feet) above sea level.
In winter, snowfalls and frost can occur. In January 1987 and December 1980, the temperature dropped to -8 °C (17.5 °F).
In summer, the altitude tempers the heat, in fact, until 2020 the temperature had reached a maximum of 40 °C (104 °F), while in July 2023 it reached 40.6 °C (105 °F).
