Climate chart - Constantine
The climate of Constantine, the third largest city in Algeria, can be defined as Mediterranean, even though the summer is particularly hot.
In addition, in winter, the city is exposed to cold spells and snowfalls. On average, it snows six days a year. In February 1999 the temperature dropped to -10 °C (14 °F), while on other occasions it dropped to -5 °C (23 °F).
The city is located in northern Algeria, at 770 meters (2,500 feet) above sea level, and about 80 km (50 mi) away from the Mediterranean coast.
In summer, as mentioned, it is very hot, and in the hottest periods the temperature can exceed 40 °C (104 °F). In July 2018 and July 2023 the temperature reached 44 °C (111 °F), while in August 2021 it reached 44.7 °C (112.5 °F).
