Weather and climate in Peshkopi (Albania)

Peshkopi is a city in eastern Albania, located at 650 meters (2,100 feet) above sea level, near the border with North Macedonia. The city is located in a valley between two mountain chains, to the west Mount Deje, in the Lurë national park, and to the east Mount Korab, 2,764 metres (9,068 feet), the highest peak in Albania and North Macedonia, located in the Korab-Koritnik natural park.
The climate of Peshkopi is continental, with cold winters and hot summers during the day, but with cool nights.
Precipitation is not abundant, and is lower than that of other Albanian cities, because the mountains to the west partially block it.
During cold spells, the temperature can drop to -15 °C (5 °F), and more rarely below. In January 2017 it dropped to -18 °C (-0.5 °F).
In summer, during heat waves the temperature can exceed 35 °C (95 °F). In July 1988 it reached 41.7 °C (107 °F).
