The climate of Durrës is Mediterranean, with mild, rainy winters and hot, sunny summers.
The city is located on the coast, in the center of Albania, and west of Tirana.
Although the climate is generally mild, during the winter, there can be cold days when the winds blow from Russia. The coldest record is -11 °C (12 °F) and was set in January 1981.
In summer, temperatures are high even though the city is located on the coast. Moreover, it can get very hot when the sirocco blows from Africa. The highest record is 40 °C (104 °F) and was set in August 2021.
