Climate chart - Durres
The climate of Durrës is Mediterranean, with mild, rainy winters and hot, sunny summers.
The city is located on the coast, in the center of Albania, and west of Tirana.
Although the climate is generally mild, during the winter, there can be cold days when the winds blow from Russia. Typically the temperature drops to -4/-5 °C (23/25 °F) in the coldest periods, however in January 2017 it dropped to -9 °C (16 °F).
In summer, temperatures are high even though the city is located on the coast. Moreover, it can get very hot when the sirocco blows from Africa. The highest record is 41.4 °C (106.5 °F) and was set in August 2023.

Best Time


The best times to visit Durrës are spring and autumn, namely the months of May and September. In June, the weather is often excellent, but it can sometimes get hot, especially in the second half of the month.
To go to the beach, the best months are July and August. In June, the sea is still a little cool.
