Spain - weather in October

October in Spain is an autumn month, and is generally a very mild month in the center-north and quite warm in the south, and characterized by humid winds, which can bring periods of bad weather. However, there are also sunny days, especially in the center-south and in the first half of the month, when at times it can still seem almost summer.

The average daily temperature is around 17 °C (63 °F) on the northern coast, overlooking the Atlantic (see La Coruña, Gijón, Santander), 13/14 °C (55/57 °F) in the northern part of the plateau (see León, Valladolid, Salamanca), 16 °C (61 °F) in Madrid and 18 °C (64 °F) in Barcelona, ​​while it reaches or exceeds 20 °C (68 °F) on the southern coasts and in the Andalusian plain (see Seville, Córdoba).
As mentioned, in the center-south it can still get hot, so much so that the temperature can reach over 30 °C (86 °F). Instead, in the second half of the month, it can sometimes get a bit cold at night, in fact the night temperature can drop to around 0 °C (32 °F) on the plateau.

The rains are frequent and abundant in the north, in the regions overlooking the Atlantic (see Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, Basque Country), while in the center-south they are not very frequent, however, they are increasing compared to the previous months. As can happen in Mediterranean countries in autumn, sometimes floods can occur in the areas near the coasts and close to the mountains, even where it does not normally rain much.

The sea is by now cool enough to swim in, however, on the Mediterranean coast, especially in the central part (see Balearic Islands, Valencia, Alicante), it is still acceptable, as its temperature is still 22 °C (72 °F).
In the southern part of the Mediterranean coast, in Andalusia (see Málaga), and on the Costa de la Luz, exposed to a portion of the Atlantic Ocean (see Cádiz) the sea is cooler, around 20/20.5 °C (68/69 °F).
On the other hand, on the north coast, exposed to the Atlantic Ocean, the sea is cold, as its temperature is 17/18 °C (63/64 °F).

During the month, the length of the days gradually decreases. In October, the average day length in Spain is 11 hours.
