Spain - weather in November

Flag - Spain

Map - Spain

In November, an autumn month, the climate in Spain is generally mild, cloudy and rainy. In fact, it is the rainiest month of the year.

The average daily temperature is around 13 °C (55 °F) on the northern coast, facing the Atlantic (see La Coruña, Gijón, Santander), 7/8 °C (45/46 °F) in the northern part of the plateau (see León, Valladolid, Salamanca), 10 °C (50 °F) in Madrid and 13.5 °C (56 °F) in Barcelona, while it reaches or exceeds 15 °C (59 °F) on the southern coasts and in the Andalusian plain (see Seville, Córdoba).
On the hottest days, generally at the beginning of the month, the temperature can still reach 28/30 °C (82/86 °F) in the south.
Especially in the last ten days of the month, there can be cold periods, in which the weather resembles that of winter.

The rains are frequent and abundant in the north, in the regions facing the Atlantic (see Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, Basque Country), where they sometimes exceed 150 millimetres (6 inches) per month, while in the rest of the country they are moderate, and in some areas, such as that of Zaragoza and the south-east (see Valencia, Alicante, Murcia, Almería) they are even quite rare.
In the mountains it starts to snow.

As for the wind, Spain is a fairly windy country, being exposed to two seas. On the Balearic Islands, especially in Menorca, the easternmost one, the tramontana, the north wind coming from France, blows quite often. In Zaragoza and the Ebro Valley, a cold and dry wind from the northwest, the cierzo, can blow.
In the south, the coast of Andalusia, called Costa del Sol but formerly called Costa del Viento, is quite windy, due to the westerly and easterly winds, especially on the strait that separates it from Morocco (see Tarifa).
In the north, the coast and the Pyrenees can instead be swept by humid winds from the Atlantic Ocean.

During the month, the length of the days gradually decreases. In November, the average day in Spain lasts just over 9 and a half hours in the north and just over 10 hours in the south.

The following tables show the climate averages in the month of November in Spain in a selection of locations.
