Portugal - weather in April

In April, the second month of spring, the weather in Portugal is generally mild, humid and rainy in the center-north, and often sunny in the south. However, especially in the first twenty days of the month, there can be unstable weather.

On the coast, the average daily temperature is 13.5 °C (56.5 °F) in Porto, in the north, 16 °C (61 °F) in Lisbon, in the center-south, and 16.5 °C (61.5 °F) in Faro, on the southern coast (Algarve).
In the coldest periods, nighttime temperatures can drop to around 0 °C (32 °F) in the north, while on the warmest days, generally at the end of the month, they can reach 25 °C (77 °F), and sometimes 30 °C (86 °F), even in the north.

The rainfall increases compared to March, and is frequent and sometimes abundant in the north, and gradually rarer going south.

The wind often blows, and sometimes, especially in the north, it can be strong.

The Azores anticyclone can bring periods of good weather, more likely in the south.

The sea is still very cold for swimming.

During the month, the length of the days gradually increases. In April, the average day in Portugal is 13 and a half hours long in the north and just over 13 hours in the south.
