Netherlands - weather in May

In May, the last month of spring, the climate in the Netherlands is cool and quite rainy.

The average daily temperature ranges from 11.5 °C (52.5 °F) in the far north (West Frisian Islands, see Terschelling) to 14 °C (57 °F) in the south (see Eindhoven, Maastricht).
In the coldest periods, which generally occur in the first part of the month, the night temperature can drop to around freezing, and during the day it can remain at 10 °C (50 °F). On the other hand, on the warmest days, generally in the second half of the month, the temperature can exceed 25 °C (77 °F), and sometimes 30 °C (86 °F).

The rainfall increases slightly compared to April, and is quite frequent.

Although the sun in the Netherlands does not shine very often, it is the sunniest time of the year, which lasts until August.

The days are long, and their length gradually increases throughout the month. In May, the average day in the Netherlands is almost 16 hours long.
