Netherlands - weather in March

Flag - Netherlands

Map - Netherlands

In March, the first month of spring, the climate in the Netherlands is relatively mild.

However, March is also a wet and windy month: the windiest period of the year is usually from November to March.

The average daily temperature ranges from around 5.5 °C (42 °F) in the north (see Groningen, West Frisian Islands) to 7 °C (44.5 °F) in the southwest (see Vlissingen).

Precipitation is frequent, but generally not heavy, and usually occurs in the form of rain.

However, the weather in March is quite unstable, with possible fluctuations in temperature. On the one hand, cold air can still sometimes arrive, with possible snowfall and frost, especially in the first half of the month. On the other hand, with the winds from the south, the temperature can already reach 18/20 °C (64/68 °F), especially in the second half of the month.

During the month, the length of the days gradually increases. On March 20, the spring equinox, the day lasts 12 hours out of 24 all over the world.

The following tables show the climate averages in the month of March in Netherlands in a selection of locations.
