Germany - weather in May

In May, the last month of spring, the weather is generally very mild in much of Germany, although it is still quite cool (and windy) on the northern coast, and still cold in the high mountains.

The average daily temperature is 12 °C (54 °F) on the northern coast (North Sea and Baltic), and 14/15 °C (57/59 °F) in the center-south, while it drops again to 13 °C (55 °F) in the southeast, on the Bavarian plateau (see Munich, Augsburg).
Sometimes it can still get a bit cold, especially in the first half of the month, in fact the night temperature can drop to around 0 °C (32 °F) or slightly below.
Instead, on the warmest days, generally in the second half of the month, the temperature can reach 28/30 °C (82/86 °F), although this rarely happens along the coast, in the far north.

The rains are quite frequent, as in Germany happens all year round, moreover, compared to the previous months they tend to increase, because in the first warm days, thunderstorms can break out in the afternoon and evening.

Even though the sun in Germany never shines very often, we are in the sunniest period of the year, which lasts until August.

The days are long, especially in the north, moreover, during the month their length gradually increases. In May, the day in Germany lasts on average about 16 hours in the north and 15 hours in the south.
