France - weather in November

In November, an autumn month, the weather in France is generally mild, cloudy and rainy. However, it is a little colder and cloudier in the north, and milder and sunnier in the south.

The average daily temperature is 10 °C (50 °F) on the north coast (Hauts-de-France, Normandy, Brittany), 8 °C (46 °F) in Paris and 6/7 °C (43/45 °F) in the north-east, in Lorraine and Alsace (see Metz, Strasbourg), while it reaches 12/13 °C in the south-east, on the Mediterranean coast (see Perpignan, Marseille, Nice) and in Corsica.
On the warmest days, generally at the beginning of the month, the temperature can still reach 20 °C (68 °F) in the center-north and 25 °C (77 °F) in the south.
On the other hand, especially in the second half of the month, there may be cold periods, in which the weather by now resembles winter, the temperature may drop below freezing and it may snow in inland areas.

Precipitation is frequent on the west coast, and sometimes abundant, with a maximum in Brittany. In the rest of the country it is generally moderate. The least rainy area is, in the south, the Mediterranean coast (see Perpignan, Marseille, Nice), where, however, there can sometimes be abundant rainfall, concentrated in a few hours or a few days.
In the mountains, precipitation begins to occur in the form of snow.

France is a fairly windy country. In the north, in Upper France, Brittany and Normandy, and more rarely in the southwest, on the Bay of Biscay, the wind can blow from the Atlantic, sometimes in the form of a storm, while in the south, in the Rhone Valley and on the coast, the mistral and the tramontane can blow, cold and dry winds that rush to the Mediterranean.

The days are short, and their length gradually decreases during the month. In November, the day in France lasts on average 9 hours in the north and almost 10 hours in the south.
