Denmark - weather in March

Flag - Denmark

Map - Denmark

In March, the first month of spring, the climate in Denmark is cold, grey and wet.

The average daily temperature is 3/4 °C (37/39 °F).
On the coldest nights, which usually occur in the first half of the month, the temperature can drop a few degrees below freezing, to -5/-6 °C (21/23 °F), and once every few years to -10 °C (14 °F) or less.
On the other hand, on milder days, the temperature can reach 12/13 °C (54/55 °F), and sometimes exceed those values.

March is also a windy month: the windiest period of the year is usually from November to March. Although the temperature is a little higher than in other Scandinavian countries, the wind and humidity can increase the feeling of cold.

Precipitation is frequent, although it is not usually abundant.
Given the temperatures, precipitation can occur in the form of rain, snow, sleet or rain mixed with snow. The ground is usually not snow-covered, although it can be for a few days, especially in the first part of the month.

During the month, the length of the days gradually increases. On March 20, the spring equinox, the day lasts 12 hours out of 24 all over the world.

The following tables show the climate averages in the month of March in Denmark in a selection of locations.
