In August, the last month of summer, the climate in Denmark is
very mild.
August in Denmark is the mildest month of the year together with July. The
average daily temperature ranges from about 17 °C (62.5 °F) in northern Jutland to 18 °C (64.5 °F) in Copenhagen, in the east.
At night it can get very cool, in fact the temperature can drop below 10 °C (50 °F), and sometimes down to 5 °C (41 °F).
On the other hand, on the warmest days, the temperature can reach 28/29 °C (82/84 °F), and can more rarely exceed these values.
The
rainfall increases a little compared to July, and is quite frequent.
The
sea is cold for swimming, although August is the month when the sea is the least cold, and its temperature is around 18 °C (64 °F), which for locals and tourists from northern Europe can be sufficient.
Although the
sun in Denmark does not shine very often, it is the sunniest time of the year, which lasts until August. The sunniest place is, in the southeast, the island of Bornholm (see Rønne).
During the month, the
length of the days gradually decreases. In August, the average day in Denmark is about 15 hours long.
