Belgium - weather in September

In September, the first autumn month, the climate in Belgium is generally very mild and quite rainy.

The average daily temperature is 15 °C (59 °F) on the coast (see Ostend) and in the plain to the east of the coast (see Brussels, Antwerp), while it drops to 12.5 °C (54 °F) in the Ardennes (see Bastogne, Spa and Saint-Hubert), which are further from the sea and at about 500 meters (1,600 feet) above sea level.
In the coldest periods, which generally occur in the second part of the month, the night temperature can drop to a few degrees above freezing.
On the other hand, on the warmest days, generally at the beginning of the month, the temperature can exceed 25 °C (77 °F), and occasionally even 30 °C (86 °F).

The rainfall decreases slightly compared to the summer months, however, it is quite frequent.

The sea is cold for swimming, in fact its temperature is about 17 °C (63 °F).

During the month, the length of the days gradually decreases. On September 22, the autumn equinox, the day lasts 12 hours out of 24 all over the world.
