Albania - weather in February

Flag - Albania

Map - Albania

In February, the last month of winter, the climate in Albania is generally mild on the coast and on the western plain, where the climate is Mediterranean, while it becomes cold in the internal and mountainous areas.
The average daily temperature increases slightly compared to January, and is around 10/11 °C (50/52 °F) on the coast (see Durrës, Vlorë, Sarandë), 8.5 °C (47 °F) in the capital, Tirana, which is located a little further east, while it is 4/5 °C (39/41 °F) in the cities located on the eastern hills (see Peshkopi, Korçë).
Rainfall is abundant on the coast and on the western mountain slopes, where it occurs during the waves of bad weather that hit the Mediterranean areas in winter. In the eastern areas, precipitation is a little more limited, but can occur in the form of snow.
The highest mountains, on the other hand, are usually covered in snow.
During the cold waves that can affect the Balkan Peninsula in winter, the temperature can drop a few degrees below freezing on the coast, and below -10 °C (14 °F) in the eastern areas.
During the month, the length of the days gradually increases. In February, the average day in Albania is 10 and a half hours long.

The following tables show the climate averages in the month of February in Albania in a selection of locations.
